Physical and chemical properties: colorless, transparent liquid, boiling point: 119 ℃, flash point: 33 ℃. It has strong alkalinity and strong hygroscopicity, and generates white smoke in contact with air. Easily soluble in water, ethanol, and chloroform, insoluble in ether and benzene.

Application: Used in the production of mineral processing agents, metal passivation agents, marine air resin curing agents, rubber vulcanization accelerators, and also used in dyes, electroplating, and analytical reagents (mercury, copper, and silver verification). In the pharmaceutical industry, it is used to produce 1,2-propanediamine tetraacetic acid as an intermediate of the anticancer drug propiimine.
